Images of Inspiration - Week Three: Anticipation and Intensity

This shot gave me an all over misty, airy, slow-down-and enjoy-the-moment kind of feeling. The love between these two was more than apparent behind the lens.

Images of Inspiration

I've had a new idea... a creative learning experience.  I'm going to try to post a weekly shot that insipires me in one way or another.

I thought of committing to post one daily, but let's be serious! I'm a MOMMY, wife, and work outside of the home.  Any "free" time I have is quickly filled by editing, cleaning, cooking, and entertaining my daughter - not in that order!  (Any Mommy who has the time to post daily I have to question..?)

Without further delay, today's image of inspiration:

Innocence.  Happiness.  Joy.

Fall is Fantastic!

Hello again, everyone.  My lack of posting means only one thing:  SUPER BUSY!  I simply haven't had the time to devote to blogging about adventures in mommyland, photography world, or everything in between.  (who does?!)  So.. let's play a little bit of catch up:

In the past month, Miss Sophia has experienced her first, (and second ) pumpkin farm and hayride!  She loved both, and we plan to return before this beautiful season ends.  My favorite shot of her from the recent trip is below.  How lovely is my little one?  Biased?  Maybe.  ;)

Anyhow, professionally, recently I have had the fantastic opportunity to work with a repeat customer, and very dear friend.  I did her newborn's shots just two months ago, and now the entire family was involved in the shoot!  SUPER fun!  I even got to cuddle the lovely Olivia Estelle for a while.  Mmmmmm... new baby smell.  Yum Yum.  Love you guys, Jess!  Sneak Peak below:

What a cutie!

Thanks for staying caught up with me!

xoxo,

A sprinkle of this and that

Time for a recap of what has been happening in the life of this Mommy/Wife/Photographer in the past three weeks, give or take a day...or three....

Life has been a whirlwind recently!  SO many shoots and SO much editing.  I had ONE entire day of being completely caught up, and although it was an awesome feeling, I yearned for more.  Weird, right?  I think I've reached that point now, where, if I'm not shooting or editing at least six days a week, I really feel like I'm slacking.  ;)  Holiday specials are about to begin, also.  (I cannot believe we are THERE already!!)

This past Sunday Sophia and I bounced in a HUGE dyno jump, with an attached slide.  It was fantastic.  Nope, I didn't care that I was the only "kid" in there over the age of 5.  No, I didn't care that none of the other parents took part because they were too cool (more room for me!). That is a definite for her next birthday party!  No doubt.

     The Shatzer Family had our own photo session this past weekend with a fellow photo friend.  SO MUCH FUN!  So interesting and weird to be on the other end of the camera.  Took me a little warming up but the shots that we have seen so far turned out fabulous.  We love them.  {{Thanks ALEX!  I cannot wait to do yours!}}

Tonight I had my first REAL,"Am I a bad Mommy?" episode.  Picture this, if you will:  Walking along the bike path at the beach at sunset.  Car is parked on the bike path.  (BAD idea.  Who does that!?)  I angle Sophia's baby stroller AROUND the parked car when a moving car comes flying around the bend.  My heart skipped a beat.  It was close.  Not death defying close, but close.  I could still vomit from the anxiety. Dear GOD.  I had no where to go!  I was midway past the parked car.  Could only go forward or stop.  Neither was good.  It will take me a while to shake this one, I'm sure of it.  Just feel so.... guilty.

    Off to edit. GN!

Buterbaugh/Konetsky Wedding

Hello again, friends!  This weekend I wrapped up my first official wedding season! It's been an incredible adventurous ride, watching two families become one many times this summer.  Thank you so very much to all of the brides and grooms for allowing me to be a part of your very special day.

This past Saturday was an incredible wedding to be a part of. Deanna and Jeremiah exchanged vows in an intimate, beautiful countryside ceremony. Seeing the looks of joy and love on the faces of everyone in attendance was something not soon to be forgotten.

The father of the bride was so filled with love and emotions while giving away his daughter. (I was glad to see that I wasn't the only one who teared up!)  The love between this father and daughter was amazing.

I could go on and on about this lovely day, but I will let the pictorial memories do the talking.

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Konetsky.  <3

Blythe/Groucutt Wedding

Hey again, everyone!  I am just wrapping up the awesome wedding session from last weekend, I LOVE the way these turned out!  (and I'm ok with saying that, too!)

Nikki and Jim were so cute, and so easy to work with.  It was fun to have the creative control to play with the shots, the positioning and the flow of the session!  Thanks so much to Jim and Nikki for allowing me to share in your special day!

Below are just a select few of my favorites from the day. (SO hard to choose!!)

I had to take a pic of these fantastic shoes that Nikki chose!

And then there is this lovely shot of the beautiful young bride by the waterfall.  I LOVE this shot.

Jim, made the bouquets!  SO impressive!

One of my other favorites.  :)

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Blythe!  We wish you all the best.  <3

Olivia Estelle

Last night I had the incredible pleasure of working with an old and very dear friend and her newborn baby, Olivia Estelle.  I had every intention of working on a few shots last night, and finishing up before this weekend's wedding, but honestly I couldn't help but to finish them up today!  What a precious little one, so sweet and so soft.  Below are a few of my favorite shots from the shoot.

and then there's this one!

I could go on and on all night with my "favorites"!

Thank you, Mike and Jessica, for allowing me to share this special moment with you.  I look forward to creating many more pictorial memories for your family.

xoxoxo,

Equipment/Brand Snobs

I'll never really understand it.  I refuse to participate in it.  Equipment and brand snobb-ery of photography goodies.

YES, guys, I understand that a lot of people have their preferences when it come to specific brand of electronics.  Some people are die hard Cannon people.  Some Nikon.  Really, though, does the maker/model of the camera guarantee a great photograph?  I think not, people.

An eye for art is simply that.  In my opinion, having the most recent $3,000 + camera is not the important thing.  (Nor is constantly bringing it up.)  The passion for the art, and willingness to learn more, are.

Some of my all time favorite shots were taken with a pocket point and click!

That being said, please remember when arguing that you think that your camera is the BEST out there:  NO ONE CARES.

Instead of arguing about brands, take a great portrait.  People actually give a "doo doo" about that.

Doggie insanity/Fudge can talk/Photog Stuff-ings

Right when I thought I had seen it all, it happened: our two dogs got into a hell bent fury, complete with blood on each other and the floor, over a .... wait for it.... ICE CUBE. No really. It's true. I broke up a mess of fur and blood which began over a solid piece of water. Give me a break. Do these things actually happen to other people?! Or an I predestined to live with animals which are in need of prozac..? Here's to obedience school being a one way ticket out of my dogs becoming addicted to anti-depressants.

On a lighter note (or not, depending on how much I devour), there is currently a lovely presentation of over five POUNDS of fudge in my refridgerator, anxiously awaiting my midnight craving for sugar, and softly calling my name. Wrapped oh so pretty, awaiting my daughter's first birthday party this weekend. Will I make it? Can it be done? Damn you, talking fudge. Damn you.

I'm loving the new techniques I'm learning, both in shooting and post-processing. I wish someone in the Erie area would have a photog workshop! Is anything ever offered that is held closer than PITTSBURGH? Do I HAVE to drive to Pittsburgh for one? Photog friends, please shoot a mama some good news.
Shut up, fudge. Can't you see I'm busy!? Sheesh.

Newness, Oldness, Whatever-ness

I never thought I would be the kind of person whom kept a blog, a diary or anything in which I could look back on the intermost workings of my brain years later and think, "What!?," but here I am.  Blogging. Keeping up with the times, thats my excuse for this narcissism.  Moving on.

I'm starting this blog to keep all of the fans of Shatzer Studios Photography in the loop as to what is going on within the company.  Also I am writing to keep anyone who wishes to be a part of my daily shenanigans as wife, mommy and photographer, who is trying to stay cool enough to still own a shirt without a spit-up stain, and trying desperately to come up with a reason to bust out the stillettos. (cue dust rag, eek.)

Alas, here it is:  the Mommie-ography.  Enjoy.
